MY HAIR BEFORE LOCKS

Greetings!!!!

Here are some pictures of what my hair before locks looked like. My sister used to experiment on my hair a lot but when it was left up to me to do something with it, I didn't really do much.

I never really felt like I looked right with actual straight hair and even after I would get a fresh new relaxer, I would put a straw set in it, which kind of defeated the purpose.

Usually, because I didn't like straight hair, even though I still straightened it out of habit, I would get braids that curled at the ends and once in a while, a curly weave 'do. I can't find any of the pictures of those hairstyles but here are some of me with a relaxer and conrows.

These are some pictures of me with straight weave. It looks horrible to me! I never looked good with weave.

I will post more photos as I find them. Honestly, I think I made a big improvement with Sisterlocks. What do you all think????

SISTERLOCKS INSTALLATION

Greetings!!!!

Just wanted to post some pictures that I took of my sisterlocks installation. A great Sisterlocks trainee did my installation. Her name is Darcel and she in based in Amityville, New York, which is my hometown. Her salon is called Natural Roots Hair Care. Here is a link to her site:

I got my install done while I was back from Korea for 21 days mid-tour leave.

I had a decent amount of natural hair before I got locked because I was rocking a natural afro. I got my hair dyed before the installation. Here are the pics:

The next day after the installation, I started playing with it to see what I can do. Not much LOL. It's pretty flat right now but I don't wanna mess with it. Maybe one day I will do a roller set. I can't wait to curl it. I will see how it looks when I get back to Korea.

What do you guys think??

GREETINGS!!!!

Greetings Everyone!!!!

I would first like to start off by thanking everyone that inspired me to start blogging (pretty much everyone that is on my Blog List). I am one of the many who decided to lock my hair based on what I read and researched on the internet, most of that being blogs from other locked women.

I got my Sisterlocks a couple of days ago on 14 November of 2008 and told myself that I wasn't going to blog for various reasons but the more that I read everyone else's journeys and the more that I come across other military personnel who are thinking about going natural, the more I feel like this is what I should do for other women who might want to go back to their natural hair, especially women in the military who have limited options.

Over the next couple of days, I will post a lot of "catch-up" information so that I can clearly explain where I have been with my hair all the way up to the present.

But for now, since it is about 3 am, I will leave it at that. Just wanted to set this up and say "hi"! More to follow.

Regards,
